Cleveland at Tampa Bay Game Preview

The Indians continued to create some breathing room atop the AL Central with Tuesday’s 4-1 victory at home against Colorado as heavy -260 favorites. They will play the Rockies one more time as -165 favorites before heading to Tampa Bay. Cleveland’s lead over Kansas City is now four full games at 60-50 and it heads on the road with a 29-24 record this year. The total has gone OVER BetAnySports’ closing line in four of its last six road games.

It should be Danny Salazar’s turn in the Indians’ starting rotation for Thursday night. While he did not pick up the win against New York last Saturday, the right-hander did hold the Yankees to one earned run on four hits in seven full innings pitched. He is 4-5 through 13 previous starts with a 4.32 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP.

Tampa Bay fell to 5-7 over its last 12 games with Tuesday’s 2-0 loss to Boston as a +190 home underdog. At 58-56 on the year, the Rays now trail the Red Sox by 6.5 games in the AL East. They will face their division rivals one more time on Wednesday as +110 underdogs before hosting the Indians for four games. Tampa Bay is 30-26 at home this season and the total has stayed UNDER BetAnySports’ closing line in six of its last seven home games.

With a grand total of 10 runs scored, it is easy to see why the total has stayed UNDER in the Rays last six games. This lineup has been completely shut down with zero runs in three of its last four contests. Tampa Bay recalled Blake Snell from the minors to start Thursday’s series opener and he comes in with a 4.98 ERA and a 1.58 WHIP through 14 starts this year.

Thursday night should be a golden opportunity for Cleveland to get the early jump in this series. The Indians have a huge edge on the mound and their lineup should be able to build an early lead against Snell.
