Denver at Chicago – NFL Week 1 Preseason Game Preview and Pick

VietBet Pointspread: Denver -1.5

VietBet Total Line: 36

The Denver Broncos get their preseason schedule started this Thursday night with a trip to Soldier Field to face the Chicago Bears in an 8 p.m. (ET) kickoff on NFL Network.

Denver at Chicago Game Preview

Denver missed the playoffs last season after a five-year run that resulted in a victory in Super Bowl 50 in the 2015 season. The Broncos sunk to 9-7 straight-up last season after posting double digit victories in each of the previous four years. They also went 9-7 against the spread and the total stayed UNDER in five of their last seven regular season games. The Broncos opened last preseason with a 22-0 victory against Chicago on the road in a game that closed as a pick with VietBet.

Look for Trevor Siemian to get the start at quarterback for Denver on Thursday night with Paxton Lynch waiting in the wings. The battle for the starting spot between the two is the main storyline with the Broncos heading into the new season. While Denver focused on both its offensive and defensive line with its early picks in this year’s draft, it used its third round pick to add wide receiver Carlos Henderson as an added target for whichever quarterback is leading this team.

You would have to go back to the 2010 season to find the last time that Chicago played in the postseason. After winning six games in 2015, the Bears slid to SU 3-13 record last season while going 7-9 ATS. The total went OVER VietBet’s closing line in four of the Bears last six games of the 2016 regular season and they were 7-6 ATS when closing as underdogs.

The Bears paid a heavy price to move up to the second spot in the first round of the draft to select former North Carolina quarterback Mitch Trubisky. Head coach John Fox is still set with Mike Glennon as his starting signal caller for the regular season, but Trubisky should get a great chance to show what he can do starting this Thursday night.

Anytime you are coming off a three-win season there is a bit more sense of urgency to get a win even if it does not count in the standings. I will take the 1.5-points at VietBet with a play on Chicago ATS.
