Its Week 2 of the new NFL regular season and in a rematch of last year’s NFC title game, the Green Bay Packers travel to brand new Mercedes-Benz Stadium to face the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday Night Football. Kickoff is set for 8:30 p.m. (ET) and the game will be available nationally on NBC.
Green Bay at Atlanta Game Preview
The Packers faced a tough test in Week 1 with Seattle coming to town and they earned a passing grade in a hard-fought 17-9 victory as 2.5-point home favorites. They will now have to take on one of the NFC’s other top teams on the road where they have gone 3-4 against the spread in their last seven road games. The total stayed well UNDER VietBet’s closing 49.5-point line against the Seahawks after going OVER in Green Bay’s last seven games in 2016.
Aaron Rodgers put up some big numbers on the stats page in Week 1 with 311 yards passing, but his only passing touchdown of the game was a 32-yard completion to Jordy Nelson late in the third quarter to give Green Bay a 14-6 lead that it never relinquished. Credit the play of the Packers’ defense as well after holding Seattle to just 225 yards of total offense.
The Falcons ran all over Green Bay in last year’s 44-21 victory in the NFC title game, but the only memory of last season will be their epic collapse against New England in the Super Bowl. They took the first small step towards redemption with Sunday’s 23-17 victory on the road against Chicago as 6.5-point favorites, but they are going to have to play much better this week to come away with a win. Last Sunday’s win stayed UNDER the 48.5-point closing line at VietBet after it had gone OVER in Atlanta’s previous nine games.
Matt Ryan’s numbers also looked pretty good on the stat page last week with 321 yards passing and a completion rate of 70 percent on 30 attempts. His lone passing touchdown of the game came on an 88-yard completion to Austin Hooper early in the fourth quarter to put Atlanta up 20-10. The Falcons needed a big effort from their defense in the closing minute to stop the Bears from possibly tying the game deep in their own territory.

Both of these marquee quarterbacks were able to move the ball through the air last week, but it did not translate to points on the board. I would look for a few more big plays this time around in a game that goes OVER VietBet’s current 53.5-point total line.
