Dominant defensive play has lead the charge for Baltimore, winning and covering the spread against divisional opponents week one and week two, allowing just ten points through two games with eight interceptions, 10 takeaways total.  This does not bode well for Jaguars Quarterback Blake Bortle who has been a turnover machine his time in Jacksonville, racking up 53 interceptions since being taken third overall in the 2014  draft.  The strong defensive play has lead to back to back unders for the Ravens.

Jacksonville looked impressive in a week 1 AFC South showdown against the Houston Texans. Behind 10 team sacks, four from free-agent addition Calais Campbell, the Jaguars easily defeated Houston 29-7 on the road, a game they entered a 5.5 point underdog  with the over/under set at 40 points.  The offensive line was  able to keep All-World defensive end JJ Watt and former first overall pick Jadeveon Clowney in check, clearing the way for rookie first round pick Leonard Fournette and protecting fourth-year quarterback Blake Bortles. Fournette put together a 100 yard game in his debut, and Bortles was not sacked a single time in the contest.

The Jaguars returned to Jacksonville for  their week two  matchup with the  Tennessee Titans, a game in which they were not nearly as impressive.  After seeing Leonard Fournette rush for 100 yards himself in week one the entire team combined for a mere 99 yards on the ground against the Titans. BetAnySports customers must consider that the defense that looked almost impenetrable the previous week, allowing just 257 total yards, was gashed for nearly 400 yards, 179 on the ground.  Blake Bortles returned to form as well, throwing two interception on way to a 37-16 home  loss,  a  game that came  in  with  an over/under of 38 points. The loss brings the Jaguars both 1-1 in the standings  and against the spread.

If the Ravens hope to build  on their hot start they  will  look to establish the running game while attempting to shut down the Jaguars ground attack forcing the ball into the mistake prone hands of Blake Bortles.  Baltimore’s backfield combination of Buck Allen and Terrance West have combined for 249 rushing yards through two games. The Jaguars have allowed the fourth most yards on the ground in that span, giving up 279 yards on the ground. Controlling the clock in such a manner would steer the contest towards the under play with the total sitting at 39.5 points.

In the football odds at BetAnySports upon which we will make our NFL predictions, the Ravens are the favorites:

Baltimore Ravens       -3 1/2  (-110)

Jacksonville Jaguars   +3 1/2  (-110)

Over   39 1/2 points   -110

Under 39 1/2 points   -110

Jacksonville enters a three and a half point underdog and will have to rely on fourth overall pick Leonard Fournette to lead the way if they plan on keeping this  contest close. The coaching  staff has placed their trust in the rookie thus far, with 45  touches already through two weeks. But, with only 3.5 ypc the Louisiana native will have to step his game up if he hopes to penetrate the stingy Baltimore defense.
