Philadelphia at Boston Game Preview

Philadelphia closed out the regular season with a straight-up 16-game winning streak before closing out Miami in five games in the opening round of the playoffs. Over the course of those 21 games, it covered BetAnySports’ closing spread 15 times. Game 1 of this series did not go as planned with a 117-101 loss as a five-point road favorite. Despite the loss, the 76ers are still 6-2 against the spread in their last eight road games.

The box score did not look too bad in Monday’s loss with Joel Embiid scoring a game-high 31 points while JJ Redick scored 20 points and Ben Simmons added 18. However, shooting just 19.2 percent from three-point range will never help your cause. The 76ers averaged 114.2 points in the series against Miami after finishing seventh in the league in points scored (109.8) in the regular season.

The Celtics needed the full seven games to get past Milwaukee in the first round with the home team winning all seven games SU. Boston has gone 7-2 ATS over its last nine games with total going OVER BetAnySports’ closing line in 10 of its last 12 outings. It is now 9-1 in its last 10 home games both SU and ATS.

Injuries have been an issue for Boston all season long. Kyrie Irving went down with knee injury late in the year and more recently Jaylen Brown has been hampered with hamstring injury that sidelined him for Game 1. One of the main reasons that the Celtics were able to hang onto the No. 2 seed in the East was their veteran leadership and overall team depth. Three of five starters scored at least 26 points in Game 1 and Marcus Morris added 11 points off the bench.

Look for a much better effort from Philly on Thursday night with Simmons leading the way to even this series at a game apiece. As far as betting on the game at BetAnySports, go with the OVER on the total line.
