Basketball Playoff Betting — Game 4: Golden State Warriors at San Antonio Spurs
Nothing so for has worked all that well for the San Antonio Spurs, although that wasn’t all that unexpected. But now they have found themselves down three games to nothing against the Golden State Warriors, and desperate to stay alive in Sunday’s Game 4, which is scheduled to begin at 3:35 PM ET at the AT&T Center in San Antonio. When you come aboard with BetAnySports, you have the opportunity to place wagers even after the game is underway, as you access the state-of-the-art software provided through Live Betting Ultra.
San Antonio has lost all three games that have been played, by a total of 49 points. That have been heavily reliant upon LaMarcus Aldridge, who was All-Star at the power forward position but someone who nonetheless needs some help. Aldridge has gone 22 of 23 from the free-throw line, so he has taken advantage of those opportunities, and he had 18 points with 10 rebounds in Friday’s game, but the Spurs have simply not offered anything in the way of a consistent outside shooting threat.
And they will be playing once again without their head coach, Gregg Popovich, who is obviously considered one of the best in the NBA. Tragedy struck the family this past week, as Popovich lost his wife of 40 years, so he missed the game on Friday and will miss this one as well. Ettrore Mussina, a rather legendary coach overseas, who has been serving as the chief assistant, is once again in charge. Mussina won four EuroLeague championships, and is said to be in line for the head coaching opening in Charlotte. One of the Spurs’ other assistants is a female, former All-American Becky Hammon. She had been discussed as a possibility for the job with the men’s prorgam at Colorado State.

You simply can’t shoot as badly as San Antonio has in the last two games from beyond the arc and hope to contend, especially when you’re going up against the Warriors. But the Spurs have tried 61 triples in the last two games, hitting only 11 (18%). Meanwhile, Golden State has been cruising along even without Steph Curry in the lineup. Truth be told, they have more than enough – Kevin Durant is so versatile that San Antonio really doesn’t have a defensive answer for him, and Klay Thompson has really been on the mark. Thompson, who shot below 40% last year in the playoffs, is off to a sizzling start, connecting on 63% of his attempts so far. And he’s also 65% from downtown.
One of the people who we have to recognize for the Warriors going forward is JeVale McGee, the center who doesn’t play a lot of minutes, but makes those minutes count. McGee is a difference maker, going 13 for 17 from the field with 15 rebounds, and he’s only played 50 minutes over the three games. He is very active and brings a lot of energy to the table, and he serves as a great change of pace for a team that still continues to kill with its small lineup, which generally has Draymond Green at center.
It would seem a foregone conclusion that Golden State is going to move on to face New Orleans pelicans in the second round of play, but at this point it becomes a matter of rest. New Orleans swept its series against the Portland Trail Blazers, and if the Warriors don’t want to concede an edge in the “rest” department, they will want to get out of this series playing the minimum number of games. Fundamentally speaking, they would appear to have every edge, and with the second unit, which includes the likes of Shaun Livingston, Quinn Cook, Nick Young and Andre Iguodala, they have the ability to extend leads. Most San Antonio fans are just wondering if this team is going to retain the services of Kawhi Leonard, who is rumored to be part of any number of different trades. We’ll be laying the points in this one.
