Golden State at San Antonio- Thursday NBA Playoffs Pick
The best-of-seven opening round series between the Golden State Warriors and the San Antonio Spurs shifts to AT&T Center for Game 3 this Thursday night in a 9:30 p.m. tip on TNT.
Golden State at San Antonio Game Preview
Golden State posted a losing record over its last 10 regular season games at 4-6 straight-up and 3-7 against the spread. However, in the games that count the most it is 2-0 (SU and ATS) in this playoff series. After beating San Antonio by 21 points in Game 1 as eight-point favorites with BetAnySports, the Warriors completed the sweep at home with Monday’s 116-101 victory as nine-point favorites.
Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant have led the way in this series with Stephen Curry’s knee still on the mend. Thompson has put up a total of 58 points in two games and Durant is a close second with 56 total points. Golden State was the highest scoring team in the NBA this season with 113.5 points per game and it has exceeded that average over its last two games against the top defensive team in the league in points allowed.
The Spurs have the worst road record this season among all the teams that qualified for the postseason at 14-29. While San Antonio has now lost its last 10 road games SU (1-9 ATS), it will be looking to extend its SU winning streak at home to 12 games with a 9-2 record ATS in the first 11 games. BetAnySports’ total line in this series stayed UNDER 205.5 points in Game 1 before going OVER that same number on Monday night. It has gone OVER in five of the Spurs last seven games.
San Antonio’s struggles shooting ball is the main reason it is in a 2-0 hole in this series. The Spurs shot 40 percent from the field in the series opener and in Monday’s loss they went a dreadful 4-for-28 from three-point range. LaMarcus Aldridge has been the teams leading scorer in this series with 23.1 PPG and he also leads the teams in rebounds with 17 in the first two games.
Golden State at San Antonio Free Game Prediction
San Antonio is a much better team on its home court, but I still think the Spurs are headed for a very early exit in the opening round. Lay the three points in this one and take Golden State both SU and ATS.
