Washington at Toronto Game Preview
Washington put up a good fight in Saturday’s series opener as a 7.5-point road underdog in a 114-106 loss. After failing to cover by a half point, it is 5-12 against the spread over its last 17 games, including a 1-8 mark ATS over its last nine road games. The total went OVER BetAnySports’ closing 214-point line and it has gone OVER in five of the Wizards’ last seven contests.
John Wall led the way for Washington in Game 1 with 23 points, but he struggled to a 6-for-20 shooting performance from the field. Markieff Morris added 22 points and Bradley Beal connected on eight of his 17 shots to score 19 points. The Wizards had a four-point lead at the half before letting this one slip away in the fourth quarter. They ended the game shooting 47.7 percent from the field.
With Saturday’s victory both SU and ATS, the Raptors are now 5-1 SU over their last six games with a 4-1-1 record ATS. The total has gone OVER BetAnySports’ closing line in three of their last four games. Toronto earned the top seed in the Eastern Conference on the strength of its SU record at home this season (34-7), but it is just 3-5-1 ATS over its last nine home games. The total has stayed UNDER or ended as a PUSH in four of its last six games played at home.
Serge Ibaka had the hot hand for the Raptors on Saturday with 23 points while going 8-for-11 from the field. He was also a force under the boards with 11 total rebounds. Four of Toronto’s five starters scored at least 11 points in the winning effort with guard Delon Wright adding 18 points off the bench. The difference in this series opener came down to the Raptors’ ability to connect on 53.3 percent of their 30 shots from three-point range.

Toronto shot lights out in Game 1 and still only covered by a half point. While the Raptors get another SU win on Tuesday night, I am taking the Wizards to cover this time around.
