Baltimore Orioles at Minnesota Twins – 7/6/17 MLB Thursday Preview and Pick

Baltimore Orioles (40-44) at Minnesota Twins (43-41) MLB Baseball: Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 8:10 pm. The Line: Minnesota Twins -146 / Baltimore +136 — Over/Under: 10

The Baltimore Orioles and the Minnesota Twins kick off a four-game weekend set this Thursday night in an 8:10 p.m. (ET) start at Target Field to officially close out the first half of the MLB regular season.

Baltimore at Minnesota Game Preview

Baltimore was outscored 14-3 in its first two road games against Milwaukee this week to fall to 2-5 over its last seven games. The total stayed UNDER BetAnySports’ closing line in both of those losses and it has stayed UNDER in seven of the Orioles’ last eight contests. This recent slide has dropped them to 40-43 heading into Wednesday’s series finale against the Brewers and they are now 8.5 games off the pace in the AL East. Baltimore’s record on the road this season has dropped to 15-27.

Thursday night’s starter for Baltimore should be Dylan Bundy. The right-hander lost his last start against Tampa Bay on July 1 after getting shelled for five earned runs on seven hits with three of those balls going out of the park. The loss dropped him to 8-7 on the year with a 4.02 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP. He has now allowed a total of 18 earned runs over his last four starts.

The Twins picked up a pair of wins against the Los Angeles Angels in the first two games of this week’s three-game set at home. This was their third victory in their last four games to boost their overall record on the year to 43-40. Despite the two victories, Minnesota is still just 18-25 at home this season and the total has stayed UNDER in five of its last seven home games on BetAnySports’ closing line.

Look for the Twins to turn to Jose Berrios as their starter to get this series off to a strong start. The right-hander has been solid all season long at 7-2 with a 3.44 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP. One of those victories came against Baltimore in late May when he held the Orioles to three earned runs on four hits over 6 1/3 innings. Berrios’s last outing on July 1 did not go all that well after giving up five earned runs to Kansas City on nine hits including a trio of home runs.

Baltimore at Minnesota Free Game Prediction

I would go with the Twins at home on Thursday night behind a lineup that has been putting the ball in play lately. I also like Berrios’s chances to rebound from that bad outing with another quality start against the Orioles.
