Houston at Colorado Game Preview

Houston  continues to set the pace in the AL West at 66-36 overall and it remains one of the best road teams in the Majors at 34-15. It started this current five-game road trip with a 2-1 series victory against the rival Los Angeles Angels. After scoring a combined 10 runs in the first two games as road favorites, the Astros got clobbered 14-5 on Sunday as -123 favorites on the road at VietBet. The total has stayed UNDER in five of their last six road games.

Gerrit Cole is expected to get the start for Houston in Tuesday’s Game 1. The right hander has not allowed more than one earned run in four of his last five starts to lower his ERA to 2.52 with a 0.98 WHIP. The Astros have gone on to win seven of their last nine games when Cole has gotten the start. He recently held Detroit to one earned run on three hits in 5 2/3 innings pitched on July 14.

The Rockies have moved to within two games of Los Angeles for the lead in the NL West with an impressive 15-4 run over their last 19 games. Their recent seven-game winning streak came to an end on Sunday in a 6-1 loss to Arizona on the road as +161 underdogs. Colorado still won that series two games to one. It is 53-46 on the year with and even 23-23 record at home. The total has stayed UNDER VietBet’s closing line in four of its last six home games.

It should be Tyler Anderson’s turn in the Rockies’ rotation on Tuesday night. The left hander will be making his 21st start of the season and he comes into this game with a 3.72 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP. He has failed to get the decision in his last two starts despite holding Arizona and Seattle to a combined three earned runs on eight hits in 12 innings on the mound.

Cole has been pitching extremely well this season, but the Rockies have been one of the hottest teams in the Majors in the month of July. I am sticking with the home team in this one.
