Washington at Milwaukee- MLB Monday Pick
Two NL teams looking to make up some ground in their respective division race kick off this week’s three-game set this Monday night when the Washington Nationals square off against the Milwaukee Brewers. Game time from Miller Park is set for 8:10 p.m.
Washington at Milwaukee Game Preview
The Nationals have split their first two games coming off last week’s break against Atlanta at home with Saturday’s contest postponed due to rain. They are 4-6 over their last 10 games and at an even 49-49 on the year, they are six games behind Philadelphia in the NL East. Washington has lost six of its last nine games on the road with the total staying UNDER BetAny Sports’ closing line in seven of those contests. It is currently 26-24 on the road this year.
Look for Gio Gonzalez to get the start in Monday’s series opener for the Nationals. The left hander was sharp his last time out in six full innings against Pittsburgh on July 11. However, he still got tagged for the loss by allowing two earned runs on six hits in Washington’s 2-0 loss. The team has now lost five of its last six games when Gonzalez has been its starter. He is 6-6 overall with a 3.72 ERA and a 1.46 WHIP.
Milwaukee finds itself 3.5 games in back of the Chicago Cubs in the NL Central after losing two of three games at home this weekend against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Brewers are 56-45 overall with just two victories in their last 10 contests. They have won seven of their last 10 home games as part of an overall record of 31-20 at home this season. The total has gone OVER BetAnySports’ closing line in five of their last seven home games.
Jhoulys Chacin is scheduled to get the start in Game 1. Milwaukee has lost the opener in its last three series and it has dropped four of its last six games when Chacin was on the mound. The right hander is 8-3 through 21 previous starts with a 3.68 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP. He lasted 5 1/3 innings on July 15 against Pittsburgh; allowing just one earned run on one home run in that game.
Washington at Milwaukee Free Game Prediction
The pressure is mounting for each of these teams in their respective division race to start winning more games than they lose. I am taking Milwaukee to get the early jump in this series with a win on Monday night.
