New York at Seattle Game Preview
The road weary Yankees pull into Seattle on Thursday for the first of its final four road games in this 11-game trip. They have split the first six games against first Boston then Minnesota heading into Wednesday’s series finale against the Twins. The total has stayed UNDER BetAnySports’ closing line in their last five games. New York (48-44) remains 3.5 games in back of the Red Sox in the AL East and it is now 22-27 on the road this year.
Luis Severino is expected to get the start for the Yankees on Thursday night. The right-hander has looked sharp in his last two outings by allowing a combined four earned runs on 10 hits in 14 innings pitched. This moved his ERA on the year to 3.40 with a 1.10 WHIP. New York won both of those games to snap a four-game losing streak with Severino on the mound. Former Chicago White Sox third baseman Todd Frazier should be in the lineup after coming to New York in a recent trade.
The Mariners will face Houston one more time on Wednesday after splitting the first two games of this week’s road series against the Astros. This is on the heels of last weekend’s three-game sweep over the White Sox on the road. Seattle is now 6-2 in its last eight games to move to 47-48 overall. This includes a winning 27-22 record at home. The total has stayed UNDER BetAnySports’ closing line in five of its last seven games.
It should be Felix Hernandez’s turn in the Mariners’ starting rotation on Thursday night. The right-hander has been limited this season due to injury, but he boasts a 3.72 ERA in his last five starts since coming off the DL. He has allowed just one earned run on eight hits over his last two starts to pick up the win in both contests. Seattle has gotten hot at the plate coming off the break with an average of 5.2 runs over its last five games.

Seattle has won the opener in its first two series since the All Star break and I like its chances to make it three in a row with Hernandez on the mound.
