Arizona at Denver- NFL Week 4 Preseason Game Preview and Pick

VietBet Pointspread: Denver -2.5

VietBet Total Line: 36.5

The final week of the NFL preseason pits the Arizona Cardinals on the road against the Denver Broncos in a scheduled 9 p.m. (ET) start this Thursday night at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

Arizona at Denver Game Preview

Arizona got an early start to the preseason in a tight two-point loss to Dallas in this year’s Hall of Fame Game. It went on to win two of its next three exhibitions to post a straight-up 2-2 record while going 2-1-1 against the spread. Last week, the Cardinals upended Atlanta 24-14 on the road as 3.5-point underdogs on VietBet’s closing line. This followed a win against Oakland and a loss to Chicago at home. The total has been evenly split at 2-2 through the four games.

Look for a trio of quarterbacks to get some added reps on Thursday night with starter Carson Palmer on the bench. Blaine Gabbert, Drew Stanton and Trevor Knight were all under center in last week’s game against the Falcons. John Brown came up big catching the ball in that game with two receptions for 49 yards and two touchdowns. Chris Johnson gained 31 yards on six carries in the running game, but he also fumbled twice.

The Broncos have made a perfect 3-0 SU run through their preseason schedule with road wins against Chicago and San Francisco as slight underdogs before posting a 20-17 victory against Green Bay at home last week as three-point favorites on VietBet’s  closing spread. The total stayed UNDER 42 points in last week’s win after going OVER in their first two games.

Denver suddenly finds itself extremely thin at the quarterback situation with the loss of Paxton Lynch to a shoulder injury. Trevor Siemian is firmly in place as the team’s starter, but in the short-term the Broncos will have to turn to undrafted rookie Kyle Sloter as their primary backup. Wide receiver Jordan Taylor is now in place as the emergency quarterback for Thursday night. Veteran running back Jamaal Charles is looking to extend his career with Denver and he rushed for 27 yards on four carries in last week’s game.

The main goal of this final preseason game is to keep everyone healthy while filling in the last few spots on each team’s roster. Given the current situation at quarterback, I would have to give the slight edge to Arizona ATS on Thursday night as a slight 2.5-point road underdog with VietBet.
