Indianapolis at Tennessee Game Preview

Indianapolis has shown some signs of life the past few weeks at 2-3 straight-up on the year with victories against Cleveland and San Francisco at home wrapped around a road loss to Seattle. After covering as slight 1.5-point favorites against the 49ers in last Sunday’s 26-23 overtime win, the Colts are 3-2 against the spread with the total going OVER BetAnySports’ closing line in four of their first five games. They have gone 0-2 both SU and ATS in their first two road games this year.

Jacoby Brissett is expected to once again get the start at quarterback for an ailing Andrew Luck. He has thrown for 997 yards and two touchdowns as part of an offense that is ranked 22nd in the NFL in passing yards and 25th in total yards gained. TY Hilton has been the top target in the passing game with 24 receptions for 466 yards and Frank Gore continues to lead the team in rushing with 239 yards on 75 carries.

The Titans appeared to be the team to beat in the AFC South earlier in the season, but a pair of road losses to Houston and Miami the past two weeks dropped them to 2-3 on the year both SU and ATS. After getting crushed by the Texans 57-14 as a 2.5-point favorite with BetAnySports, Tennessee was on the wrong end of a 16-10 loss to Miami as a slight one-point underdog. It returns home with 5-1 record both SU and ATS in its last six games at Nissan Stadium.

The big question for Monday night is quarterback Marcus Mariota’s playing status. He missed last week’s game with a strained hamstring and he remains listed as day-to-day. Matt Cassel got the start in his place against Miami and ended the day completing 22 of his 31 attempts for 141 yards and a score. The Titans did little on the ground behind DeMarco Murray with 69 yards on 20 carries. This offense is ranked 24th in the league in total yards with an average of 308.6 a game.

Even if Mariota can go, I am not sure either offense is going to have all that much success putting points on the board this Monday night. The total has stayed UNDER in 16 of the last 24 games between these two and the odds favor that it stays UNDER again this time around.
