Jacksonville at New England Game Preview

Jacksonville was able to grind out a 10-3 victory against Buffalo in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs, but it could not cover as 8.5-point home favorites on BetAnySports’ closing spread. Going on the road to Pittsburgh for Sunday’s Divisional Round matchup, the Jaguars exploded for 45 points in a three-point victory as seven-point underdogs. The total went way OVER the closing 40.5-point line in that thrilling win and it has gone OVER in four of its last six games.

The Jaguars were 4-2 this season against the spread when closing as underdogs fueled by those two road wins against the Steelers, but they are going to need their A-Game for all four quarters to keep things close enough to cover this Sunday afternoon. Blake Bortles had a productive day throwing the ball against the Steelers with 214 yards and a score, while Leonard Fournette added 109 yards and three scores running the ball as part of the team’s 164 total rushing yards on the day.

New England came into this season’s AFC playoffs as the top seed with a SU record of 13-3. Following a shaky 2-2 SU start while failing to cover in three of their first four games, the Patriots reeled off 12 SU wins in 13 games while going 11-2 ATS after pasting Tennessee 35-14 in their first postseason appearance on Saturday night as heavy 13.5-point home favorites. New England has closed as a double-digit favorite in five of its last seven games and it has covered in four of those contests.

Tom Brady put the ball up 53 times against the Titans; completing 35 passes for 337 yards and three scores against zero interceptions and zero sacks. Danny Amendola had a big game catching the ball with 11 receptions for 112 yards and running back Dion Lewis caught nine balls for 79 yards to go with his 62 rushing yards on 15 carries. It was a total team effort for New England in every phase of the game.

I was really impressed with Jacksonville’s performance against Pittsburgh on Sunday, but unless BetAnySports’ betting spread crosses the 10-point mark I am going to lay the current 9.5 points and take the Patriots both SU and ATS.
