Jacksonville at San Francisco- NFL Week 16 Sunday Game Preview and Pick
The 10-4 Jacksonville Jaguars continue their quest for the AFC South Division title this Sunday afternoon in a late 4:05 p.m. start on CBS against the 4-10 San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium.
Jacksonville at San Francisco Game Preview
The Jaguars clinched their first playoff bid since 2007 with Sunday’s 45-7 romp against Houston as heavy 12.5-point home favorites. With six straight-up victories in their last seven games, they are closing in on the division title with an outside shot at a first round bye in the AFC. Jacksonville is 4-1 against the spread in its last five games as part of an overall ATS record of 9-5. The total has stayed UNDER VietBet’s closing line in four of its last five road games.
Blake Bortles was the chief engineer of Sunday’s dominating offensive attack through the air with 326 yards passing and three scoring strikes. He completed seven passes to Keelan Cole for 186 yards and a score and two of his four completions to Jaydon Mickens were for touchdowns. The Jaguars’ ground game did not miss a beat with Leonard Fournette out due to injury with 138 rushing yards and three more scores on 38 attempts. They also held firm on defense to remain the top unit in the NFL when it comes to points allowed (14.9).
San Francisco was out of the playoff race early in the NFC with just one SU win in their first 11 games, but with Sunday’s last-second 25-23 victory against Tennessee as a 2.5-point home favorite, its current SU winning streak has reached three games. Road wins against Chicago and Houston as underdogs the previous two weeks have the 49ers sitting at an even 7-7 ATS on the year.
Just about all of this team’s recent success can be attributed to San Francisco’s new starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. He has thrown for over 1000 yards in his last three outings including 381 yards against the Titans while completing 31 of his 43 passing attempts. Marquise Goodwin was on the receiving end of 10 of those completions for 114 yards.

The Jaguars will have to avoid a letdown on the road this Sunday coming off that playoff-clinching win, but I do like their chances to cover VietBet’s 4.5-point spread given their overall edge on both sides of the ball in this matchup. Garoppolo has yet to face a defense of this caliber, which could be an eye-opening experience for the four-year vet.
