VietBet Pointspread: Kansas City -1.5

The final betting matchup on Sunday’s NFL Week 5 slate should be a good one between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Houston Texans. Kickoff from NRG Stadium is set for 8:30 p.m. (ET) on NBC.

Kansas City at Houston Game Preview

The Chiefs are now the only undefeated team in the NFL at 4-0 both straight-up and against the spread, but getting past Washington 29-20 on Monday night was not an easy task. They covered as 6.5-point home favorites on a fumble return as time ran out in a game that was much closer than the final score. The total went OVER VietBet’s closing 47.5-point line on Monday night and it has gone OVER in three of their first four games.

On paper, Kansas City remains the most complete team in the NFL behind an offense that is ranked third in scoring with 30.5 points per game complementing a defense that is 11th in points allowed (19.2). Things did not go all that smooth on the field this past Monday night after falling behind 10-0 at the half. Veteran quarterback Alex Smith was still able to make the plays when he had to with 293 yards passing and Kansas City got another strong effort from its running game with 168 yards on the ground.

Houston had no problem running up and down the field against AFC South rival Tennessee in Sunday’s 57-14 romp as a slight 2.5-point home underdog on VietBet’s closing line. The Texans took the total OVER 43 points on their own after it went OVER 44 points last week in a tough 36-33 loss to New England as heavy 13.5-point underdogs on the road. They come into this game at 2-2 SU with a 3-1 record ATS.

It did not take all that long for rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson to take over the starting job in Houston. He looked like a seasoned vet in Sunday’s win with 283 yards passing and four touchdown throws. He added another score on the ground as part of the Texans’ 445 yards of total offense. The defense did its part by holding the Titans to just 109 yards through the air and 86 yards on the ground.

This could be a trap game for the Chiefs coming off a short week. Houston has quite a bit of momentum playing its second-straight game at home and I see that translating to another SU win this Sunday night.
