Monday Night NFL Betting — Detroit Lions at New York Giants

The New York Giants invested plenty of effort in building a winning defense in the last off-season, figuring that they had things pretty well figured out on the offensive end.

Los Angeles at San Francisco- NFL Week 3 Thursday Night Game Preview and Pick

BetAnySports Pointspread: Los Angeles -2.5

BetAnySports Total Line: 43

The third week of the 2017 NFL regular season gets things started with a NFC West clash between the Los Angeles Rams and the San Francisco 49ers on NBC’s Thursday Night Football in an 8:30 p.m. (ET) start at Levi’s Stadium.

Los Angeles at San Francisco Game Preview

The Rams’ attempt at a 2-0 straight-up start fell just short in Sunday’s 27-20 loss to Washington as three-point home favorites. This followed a dominating 46-9 romp over Indianapolis in Week 1 as 3.5-point favorites at home on BetAnySports’ closing line. The total went OVER 42 points against the Colts before ending as a PUSH on a 47-point line against the Redskins. Los Angeles will head up the coast with a 1-4 record ATS in its last five road games.

Jared Goff started is second NFL season on a strong note with 306 yards passing in that lopsided victory on opening day, but he was pretty much held in check this past Sunday with 224 yards passing and one score while completing 15 of his 25 attempts. Todd Gurley was on the receiving end of that lone touchdown throw and he added another 88 yards on the ground on 16 carries.

As expected, it has been a rough start for San Francisco with losses to Carolina at home and Seattle on the road, but give the 49ers credit for hanging tight with the Seahawks on Sunday in a 12-9 loss as heavy 13.5-point underdogs. The total stayed well UNDER BetAnySports’ closing line in both of those games after going OVER in four of San Francisco’s final six games last season.

The lone bright spot for the 49ers was the play of their defense on the road against Seattle. This game could have gone either way if San Francisco could have found a way to get the ball into the end zone. Brian Hoyer has gotten the start at quarterback in the first two games and against the Seahawks’ defense he was held to 99 yards passing while completing just 15 of his 27 attempts. Through two games, San Francisco has averaged 232.5 yards of total offense.

The 49ers only won two games last season SU, but they both happened to be against the Rams. I think that Los Angeles will avenge those defeats this Thursday night with the SU win that should cover the 2.5 points, but my ‘best bet’ pick is the UNDER on BetAnySports’ inflated 41-point total line.
