The New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers kick off Week 5 in the NFL in an inter-conference clash at Raymond James Stadium on Thursday Night Football. CBS has the national coverage in this slated 8:25 p.m. (ET) start.

New England at Tampa Bay Game Preview

New England is probably looking forward to Thursday’s road trip after losing its second game at home this season with last Sunday’s 33-30 setback against Carolina as a nine-point favorite. This was after the Patriots escaped with a three-point win at home against Houston the week before as 13.5-point favorites on BetAnySports’ closing line. They are now 2-2 straight-up this season with a 1-3 record against the spread. The total has gone OVER in all four games.

The stats on the offensive side of the ball remain gaudy with Tom Brady throwing the ball all over the field. New England is ranked second in the NFL in scoring with an average of 32.3 points per game and it is at the top of the list in passing with an average of 328.2 yards per game. The issue has been a defense that falls all the way to 31st in points allowed and last in total yards allowed.

The Buccaneers moved to 2-1 SU (1-2) on the year with Sunday’s 25-23 victory against the New York Giants on a last-second field goal. They closed as 2.5-point home favorites and the total went OVER BetAnySports’ 46-point total line. It has gone OVER in two of their first three outings. Tampa Bay has now won its last five home games SU and it is 4-2 ATS in its last six games at Raymond James Stadium.

This is another team that knows how to move the ball down the field through the air. Third-year quarterback Jameis Winston threw for 323 yards and three scores in the win over the Giants and, on the year, the Buccaneers are ranked third in the NFL in passing yards. Most of their issues have also been on the other side of the ball with a defense that is 30th in total yards allowed and giving up an average of 315.7 passing yards per game.

New England at Tampa Bay Free Game Prediction

Look for New England to bounce back on the road this Thursday night in a game it should win both SU and ATS. I actually think both teams are going to be able to put some serious points on the board to take the total OVER BetAnySports’ already inflated 54-point line.
