Week 14 in the NFL gets underway with an important showdown in the NFC South between the 9-3 New Orleans Saints and the 7-5 Atlanta Falcons on Thursday night. Game time on NBC from Mercedes-Benz Stadium is set for 8:25 p.m. (ET)

New Orleans at Atlanta Game Preview

New Orleans moved into sole possession of the top spot in the NFC South with Sunday’s 31-21 victory against 8-4 Carolina as a 5.5-point home favorite. This followed a 26-20 road loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 12 as a 2.5-point underdog with BetAnySports. The Saints are now 7-5 against the spread including a 4-2 record ATS in six previous road games. The total has gone OVER in three of their last four games overall.

Balance on both sides of the ball has been the key to New Orleans’ success this season. Its offense is ranked third in the NFL across the board in terms of passing and rushing yards gained as well as in points scored with an average of 29.4 a game. Drew Brees continues to perform at a high level throwing the ball and both Mark Ingram and rookie Alvin Kamara have made huge contributions in the running game.

Atlanta is now two games off the pace in this heated division title race following Sunday’s 14-9 loss to Minnesota as a slight two-point favorite at home. Its record ATS dropped to 5-7 including an even 3-3 mark ATS on its home field. The total stayed UNDER BetAnySports’ closing 48.5-point line in Sunday’s loss and it has stayed UNDER in six of the Falcons’ last nine games.

The star power on this team still consists of Matt Ryan throwing the ball to Julio Jones while Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman anchor the running game. The Falcons struggled in both of these areas against the Vikings with a combined 275 yards of total offense in a losing effort. On the year, they are ranked eighth in the league in yards gained (365.2) and 14th in scoring with 22.8 points per game.

New Orleans at Atlanta Free Game Prediction

This should be one of the better matchups on Thursday Night Football this season between two teams who both have pressing reasons to win this game. Add in the division rivalry aspect and it should remain a close, hard-fought battle to the end. My lean when it comes to betting this game is towards the home team with Atlanta getting the win both SU and ATS.
