NFL Betting Preview – Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers (11/26)
The Seattle Seahawks must have thought they’d be further along by now; the second half of the season is when they usually start warming up. But now they lost two of their last three games, both of them at home, and they are looking upward at the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC West. On Sunday they will take to the field against the San Francisco 49ers in a game that starts at 4:05 PM ET at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. It’s televised by Fox on a regional basis, and if you are a BetAnySports customer, you can place wagers in real time using the state-of-the-art software from Live Betting Ultra.
Three weeks ago, Seattle looked kind of drab in losing a 17-14 decision to the Washington Redskins. Some trouble signs should have been there the week before, when they were scared to death by the Houston Texans, winning that one by only three points. Last time out, they were beaten by the Atlanta Falcons, who had been struggling on offense. So these Seahawks could really use a big effort.
Now they are going up against the 49ers, who are actually coming off a victory. Of course, that was against the New York Giants, who hung in for a while but then laid down for them 31-21. San Francisco lacks fundamentals; they don’t protect the passer well (32 sacks) and they don’t keep drives going, holding the football for an average of only 27 minutes and 20 seconds a game.
Seattle is 6-4 straight-up and 3-6-1 against the NFL betting odds..San Francisco is 1-9 straight-up in 5-5 ATS.
In the NFL betting odds that have been posted on this game but people at BetAnySports, Seattle is laying points as the road favorite:
Seattle Seahawks -6.5
San Francisco 49ers +6.5
Over 45 points -110
Under 45 points -110
There is kind of a mystery surrounding the San Francisco camp right now, and it involves recently-acquired quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who has yet to play. He was picked up in a trade with New England in exchange for second-round draft pick, and he has been anointed as the latest “quarterback of the future” with the Niners. But the word that is coming from management and the coaching staff is that they are taking their time with him, allowing him to completely digest the playbook. At some point, he will come in and play, and most likely take over the starting position. But as of this writing, that has not happened yet.
So BetAnySports patrons will see more of rookie CJ Beathard, who has taken his lumps, for certain, but had a very good game against the Giants last time out, with 288 yards through the air. In that ballgame, the 49ers exhibited a lot of balance, also shredding the New York defensive front for 186 yards on the ground. Clearly, Carlos Hyde is the most important part of this offense right now, because he can take pressure off the quarterback and he is a workhorse, gaining 592 yards thus far. Pierre Garçon is out with an injury, so Beathard does not have a lot of effective options to turn to. That’s a good thing for the Seahawks, who have now lost both cornerback Richard Sherman and safety Kam Chancellor to injuries. But Russell Wilson is getting more comfy with Jimmy Graham, so against a defense that lacks personnel, they can put up points. The bottom line here might involve what Seattle’s motivation is. If they come with an all-out effort, this number can certainly be covered.
