NFL Picks – Oakland Raiders at Denver Broncos

The Oakland Raiders are certainly in a situation where they would like to erase last week’s results from their memory. They were dreadful, and they know it, and they have an opportunity to redeem themselves in an AFC West clash against the Denver Broncos, which begins at 4:25 PM ET at Sports Authority Field in Denver. This game will be televised on a regional basis by CBS, and if you are a BetAnySports customer, you can make wagers while the action is in progress, using the state-of-the-art software available through Live Betting Ultra.
The Raiders lost 27-10 to the Washington Redskins last week, but if you look at all of the numbers surrounding it, the game was not very close at all. Oakland was outgained by a mammoth 472-128 margin, averaging only 2.7 yards per play. They did not convert a third down in the entire game, and had only seven first downs overall. Derek Carr had 118 passing yards, which means the ground attack did absolutely nothing. The Oakland offensive line, which usually draws praise, allowed the quarterback to be sacked four times.
Denver comes off a very irritating loss to the Buffalo Bills last week, in which they fizzled on offense in the late going. Quarterback Trevor Siemian threw a couple of interceptions, and he was sacked three times. Both of these teams have 2-1 records, but they are chasing the Kansas City Chiefs, who are undefeated.
In the odds at BetAnySports upon which we will base our NFL picks, the Broncos are the favorites:
Denver Broncos -3.5 (-105)
Oakland Raiders +3.5 (-115)

Over 44 points -110
Under 44 points -110
We know that Oakland has acquired a new tight end in Jared Cook, and he’s been very useful, tied for the team lead with 13 receptions. He was the one guy who got the job done connecting with Carr, and had the Raiders’ only touchdown against Washington. But these wide receivers have to get loose; there is no question about it. And they’re going to have a challenge doing that against the Broncos, who have shutdown cornerbacks in I keep to leave and Chris Harris. Can the Raiders open things up a little with their running attack? Well, Marshawn Lynch was very useful in the second half against Tennessee in the season opener, but his longest run has only been 14 yards – and he is averaging 3.9 yards per carry.
Siemian is the steadiest option at quarterback for the Broncos, and BetAnySports patrons can look at his numbers and see that he has averaged more yards per attempt (7.1) then Carr (6.7). And Oakland’s defense is something that often leaves something to be desired. Kirk Cousins had 365 yards passing against them last week, and the Redskins are more or less in a transition phase on offense. Can Siemian get the ball down the field, against a defense that has allowed 51% success on third down? Well, Emmanuel Sanders and Demariyus Thomas have combined for 33 receptions and 399 yards.
Von Miller is having a decent season so far, although it doesn’t look like he’s going to have 30 sacks, as he projected. Obviously that wasn’t a very realistic figure, but he’s got three sacks and if Oakland does not protect like they did last week, else one plenty of time in the backfield of the Silver and Black.
