Oakland at Washington Game Preview

The Raiders will look to remain perfect on the year both straight-up and against the spread this Sunday night after knocking off Tennessee 26-16 in Week 1 as 2.5-point road underdogs ahead of last Sunday’s 45-20 rout of the New York Jets as heavy 13.5-point favorites at home. The total stayed UNDER VietBet’s 50-point line against the Titans, but it went well OVER the 43.5-point line against the Jets. The 2-0 start ATS raised Oakland’s record to 9-4 ATS in its last 13 games.

The combination of Derek Carr throwing the ball in a highly efficient manner and a ground game that is deep in talent have accounted for a total of 71 points in two games, which is the highest scoring total in the league. Carr has connected on 75 percent of his first 60 attempts for 492 yards and five touchdown throws. His top target has been Michael Crabtree with 12 receptions for 163 yards and three touchdowns. The Raiders are averaging 5.2 yards a carry on the ground.

Washington earned a split (both SU and ATS) in its first two games of the new season. After losing their home opener to NFC East rival Philadelphia 30-17 as one-point underdogs with VietBet, the Redskins took care of business on the road last week with a 27-20 victory against the Los Angeles Rams as three-point underdogs. The total stayed UNDER 49.5 points in the loss to the Eagles and it ended as a PUSH in the victory against the Rams. The total has gone OVER in eight of their last 11 home games.

The Redskins are another well-balanced team on offense with Kirk Cousins moving the ball down the field through the air and a trio of runners anchoring the ground game. Cousins has thrown for 419 yards and two touchdowns in two games while spreading the ball around to eight different players with at least one catch. Rob Kelly has led the way running the ball with 108 yards on 22 carries.

Both teams looked sharp last week both throwing and running the ball, but I have the Raiders with the overall edge in talent. The NFC East is still looking for its first victory (SU and ATS) against the AFC West this season, but I do not think it will get one on Sunday night
