Pittsburgh at Detroit- NFL Week 8 Sunday Night Game Preview and Pick
Ford Field is the sight of this Sunday night’s prime time inter-conference battle between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Detroit Lions on NBC. Kickoff from the Motor City is set for 8:30 p.m. (ET).
Pittsburgh at Detroit Game Preview
The Steelers have made their way to the top of the AFC North at 5-2 straight-up with back-to-back victories against Kansas City on the road as 3.5-point underdogs followed by Sunday’s 29-14 win against division rival Cincinnati as four-point favorites at home. They are 4-3 against the spread through the first seven games and the total stayed UNDER in their first six contests before going OVER VietBet’s closing 40-point line against the Bengals.
Following a rocky start that resulted in losses to Chicago and Jacksonville as a solid favorite, Pittsburgh is starting to look like the team that opened the season as one of the top contenders to win the AFC this season. Ben Roethlisberger threw for 224 yards and two scores while Le’Veon Bell added another 134 yards on the ground in Sunday’s win. The Steelers are ranked 11th in the league in total yards gained, but they fall to 17th in scoring with an average of 21 points per game.
Detroit went into last week’s bye at 3-3 both SU and ATS after losing its last two games to Carolina at home and New Orleans on the road. The total went OVER VietBet’s 50.5-point line in that 52-38 loss to the Saints and it has gone OVER in four of the Lions’ first six games. They have gone 1-2 at home this season both SU and ATS.
This has been a tough team to figure out this season. Detroit’s offense under the direction of veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford is ranked 26th in the NFL in total yards, yet this unit is eighth in scoring with 26.8 PPG. The Lions’ defense has been solid against the run, but it is 19th in the league in yards allowed and ranked 28th in points allowed (24.8). Stafford has been hampered by an ankle injury, but he is still listed as probable for Sunday night on the latest injury report.
Pittsburgh at Detroit Free Game Prediction
While the Lions are playing at home on two week’s rest, I still have to ride the hot hand in this one with a play on Pittsburgh both SU and ATS. I would also consider a possible parlay with the OVER 45 points in this inter-conference clash.
